(This part-time position has no benefits and will not exceed 26 hours a week.  The position is needed to work morning, day and 1-2 evenings or more a week and possibly 1 Saturday a month.)

The Part-time Administrative Support Staff is responsible for providing administrative assistance at the Learning Commons Welcome Desk.  The Part-time Administrative Support Staff will welcome students and assist students entering the Learning Commons.  This position reports to the Director, Learning Commons.  The Part-time Administrative Support Staff has the following responsibilities:


Provide customer service at the Learning Commons Welcome Desk by assessing the needs of students, faculty and staff

Maintain open, robust and timely communication with colleagues and supervisor

Provide students with requested information, thoroughly explain the information, and make referrals within the Learning Commons or college as appropriate

Answer and appropriately direct incoming calls and return voicemail and email messages in a timely manner

Assist in scheduling and checking in students for testing appointments

Provide administrative support for the Director, Learning Commons and other staff members

Assist in entering placement test scores and maintain confidentiality and security of placement scores by following FERPA regulations

Assist students with tutoring sign in and out

Assist in entering students schedules as needed for tutoring paperwork

Assist with data entry and reports as needed

Provide general computer assistance to students such as helping students print and navigate StormTrac, Moodle and online tutoring

Appropriately communicate and document academic integrity violations and student behavioral issues to the Director, Learning Commons in a timely manner

Assist the Learning Commons staff in maintaining a quality learning and testing environment following policies and procedures.

Assist in monitoring the proper usage of the Learning Commons space

Assist in other areas of the Learning Commons as needed and appropriate

Work with the Director and other Learning Commons staff to develop meaningful evaluations of services and use data to inform decision making processes

Perform other duties as assigned that support the College mission and initiatives

Promote College mission, vision and values

Qualifications Required:

Associate’s degree from an accredited institution

A minimum of one year customer service experience

Flexible schedule with the ability to work morning, day, evenings and some Saturdays

Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills

Ability to work independently

Ability to thoroughly assist with the informational needs of individuals

Demonstrated strong organizational and planning skills

Strong computer skills (MS Office 2010) and commitment to using technology

Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to change

Openness and willingness to engage in professional development activities

Ability to be self-directed as well as work effectively and collaboratively with others in a team environment

Familiarity with and appreciation for the mission of a comprehensive community college

Qualifications Preferred:
Experience with data entry 

Experience working with college students in a flexible setting

Experience working at a community college

ADA Summary:
ADA requirements for this position include critical thinking skills with the ability to process information and exercise good judgment; ease of mobility within the work environment and other areas of campus and College locations; be available in the evenings and on weekends; and effective use of all forms of communication including use of computers.

Salary Range: 
$10.00 - $11.25 based on candidate's experience, education, and the state budget
